Keep your phone fully charged

When you’re at an airport, you may not have easy access to a plug socket. If you’re planning on taking lots of photos, watching videos or listening to podcasts or music, you’ll want to make sure your phone is fully charged. If you’re going to be in one spot for a long time, charge your phone fully before you go to the airport and then keep it plugged in. You can also download offline content that you can listen to or watch to save your phone’s battery.

Download the airport WiFi app

Airports are notorious for having terrible WiFi connections. The only way you can guarantee a good connection is by downloading a WiFi app. Some common apps are Boingo, My Airport and WiFi Finder. Using one of these apps will tell you which WiFi networks are available, what the login details are and how much they cost per hour. Some apps even have a feature that can alert you when WiFi is available in areas you are standing in.

Pack light – especially for overnight stays

If you’re traveling to the airport for an overnight stay, make sure to pack light. You don’t want to be lugging around heavy bags, and you also don’t want to just throw anything in there. The most important thing to remember is to pack clothes that are suitable for any type of weather. If you’re not sure what the weather will be like, bring a light jacket or hoodie just in case. You’ll also want to put a few things in your carry-on bag like a toothbrush, toothpaste, a comb, a change of clothes and any medication you need.

Look out for lounges and dining options

If you’re staying at the airport for a long period of time, you may want to look into airport lounges. You can usually get access to these lounges using your airline’s frequent flyer program. If you don’t have access to one of these lounges, don’t fret! There are still ways to make your airport stay more comfortable. Some airports have WiFi that is open to the public. If you don’t have internet access, you can always go to the airport library and ask if they have WiFi or just take a walk around the airport and see if you can access it that way. If you do have internet access, try to find out what dining options are available at the airport. Some airports have restaurants that are open 24 hours a day.

Don’t forget to breathe and enjoy the experience!

Whatever you do, don’t get too stressed out while you’re in the airport. Remember, you can’t control the amount of time it takes to get through security or the fact that your flight might be delayed. Enjoy the process. You may even find that you make friends with the people around you as you all wait for your flights. Try to unplug, enjoy the time to yourself, and breathe so that you can relax before your flight.
